Fri, Apr 10, 2015
Materials: Tinfoil, water
Activity: Unroll tinfoil and lay it on the ground, for a riverbed. Fold the sides up for riverbanks. Use a siphon or hose to send a stream of water down the river. (You can make a small siphon with air line hose used in fish tanks.) Float ice cubes, leaves and other objects down the river. Add rocks and other objects to the riverbed. Create a dam, rapids, waterfall, flood and a dry riverbed.
Research Question: How does the topography of the riverbed affect how water flows?
