Plastic Bag and Magic Jar

Materials: Plastic bag, plastic jar, rubber band
Activity: Line a plastic jar with a plastic bag. Make sure the edges of the bag hang over the top of the jar. Secure the bag by adding a rubber band around the outside of the jar. Try to pull the bag out of the jar! It won't come out!
Research Questions: How does the size of bag, and jar, affect whether you can pull the bag out? How does the bag's fabric affect whether you can pull the bag out? (plastic bag, t-shirt, mesh bag) How does the condition of the jar affect whether you can pull the bag out? (plastic jar, plastic jar with a hole in it)
