Jelly Marbles

Materials: Steve Spangler's Jelly Marbles. Clear Gelatin.
Activity: Jelly Marbles Activity: Submerse tiny Jelly Marbles in water. After several hours, they will be the size of typical marbles. Play with them! They are squishy and bouncy! Put clear marbles in water, and watch them become invisible! Place clear marbles on postcards, and watch images appear bigger! Jell-O Lenses Activity: Make clear Jell-O. (I followed the directions for Knox Gelatin, but I used 4 packets of gelatin, ½ cup hot water and ¾ cup cold water.) Pour Jell-O in molds. (I greased plastic easter eggs with oil, and poured in the liquid Jell-O.) Refrigerate. Pop Jell-O out of molds. Place convex Jell-O lenses on words or pictures, and see them magnified. (I used less-absorbant print media such as postcards and cereal boxes.) Make concave Jell-O lenses, and see them minified. (I filled a tray with Jell-O liquid, and sank, slightly filled, easter eggs.)
Research Questions: How does soaking time affect the size of jelly marbles? How does the shape of a Jell-O lens affect how images appear, when looking through it?
