Kite Day 2012
Fri, Jun 29, 2012
Materials: Two kites (I love the $2 HEB kites!)
Activity: Fly kites! Change variables on one kite, compare it to the other kite. Test variables including: position of string (tow point), tail (drag), and stick length (angle where wings come together or dihedral). Troubleshooting Tips: Too much yaw - Move tow point back, check for balance, add more tail. Too much pitch - Use stronger sticks. Too much roll - Move tow point forward, add more tail, add more bow (change dihedral)
Research Questions: Test variables including: position of string (tow point), tail (drag), and stick length (angle where wings come together or dihedral). Compare and contrast how it flies.
