Crashing Toys

Materials: Toys made of plastic, wood, metal. Places to drop toys: concrete, grass, metal sheet pan, wood, cardboard...

Activity: Drop toys on surfaces. How do they sound? Our favorite was dropping metal cars through a PVC pipe onto an overturned metal sheet pan.

Research Questions: What sounds to the objects make when they hit a surface? How does the material of the object affect the sound? Material of surface object is dropped on? Size of object? Weight of object?
