Materials: Two tennis balls, two pieces of paper, a soccer ball
Activity: Drop two objects from the top of the playground equipment at the same time. Which lands first? Try a soccer ball and a flat piece of paper (soccer ball wins). Try the soccer ball and the piece of paper all wadded up (they tie). Try a soccer ball and a tennis ball (tie). Try dropping one tennis ball at the same time as shoving another tennis ball off of a ledge (tie).
Research Questions: Drop two objects; which lands first? How does the size of objects affect when they land? Shape? Weight? Whether they are thrown or dropped? Dropped at same time? Dropped from same height? Dropped from somewhere high or low?
