oLife Science: Nature-inspired Art



Vocabulary: Collage, collect, feel, find, living, names of items collected, nonliving, press, search, shape, smell, touch

Materials: Objects collected outside such as leaves, twigs, flowers, seeds, feathers and rocks, tag board or sturdy cardboard about one square foot in area), fresh green plants will wither, so dry them using a plant press on page 172.

Activity: Collect objects from outdoors. Ask children what they find, if it grew there, how it got there, how it was made, whether it is living or non-living, and if it is natural or man-made . Ask children to glue objects on cardboard, and create any collage design.

Measurement: Identify any patterns you created, and count them.
